Gilmer ISD has new Intermediate principal

CONNIE ISABELL has been named principal of Gilmer Intermediate School.

Gilmer ISD has recruited Connie Isabell to be the new principal of Gilmer Intermediate School.

Mrs. Isabell is a veteran East Texas educator and administrator.

“She has extensive experience in all levels of school leadership,” Supt. Rick Albritton said. “She served more than 30 years in education and 10 years as a principal. “She has served in the Tyler Independent School District and Longview Independent School District,” Albritton said. Mrs. Isabell has two children who have graduated from college and has received several distinguished awards during her career, he said.

“Gilmer ISD is privileged to have an educator with her experience, leadership ability and character,” Albritton added. “Her educational focus centers on children and their needs.”

She will begin her tenure as principal on May 1. Since August, 2005, she has been elementary principal at Accelerated Interdisplinary-Intermediate Academy Charter School in Tyler.

Between August, 2004, and May, 2005, she was adjunct professor of history at Kilgore College. She was principal of Longview High School from June, 2002, to June, 2004.

Her experience also includes serving as principal of Foster Middle School in Longview from June, 2000, to June, 2002, where she increased TAAS scores in all aeas and significantly reduced the gap between state-identified sub-groups.

For nearly seven years, from June, 1993, to May, 2000, she was assistant principal of instruction at John Tyler High School in Tyler. From May, 1997, to August, 1997, she also served as summer school principal at Tyler ISD.
