Reward being offered for info on missing man

By STAFF

The family of former Gilmer resident Cole Jackson is again asking for the public’s help in locating the man, who has been missing since July 13, 2006. Jackson is the son of Shane Jackson (Lowry) and Johnny Jackson of Gilmer.

A $5,000 reward is offered for information leading to locating him.

The 33-year-old white male was last seen July 13 in the New Prospect Community near Timpson in Shelby County. He is described as 5-foot, 7-inches tall, 170 pounds, blue eyes, with short brown hair and a scar on the back of his head. In an e-mail message, Shane Jackson said that “some of you may know this and some may be hearing this for the first time. I am finally ready to come out and openly tell all of my family and friends that my 33-year-old son, Cole Jackson, has been missing from the Nacogdoches area since July 13. “We really don’t know if he is dead or alive,” the e-mail said. “We have searched the wooded area near Timpson where his truck was found. He has not used his cell phone since that day. He has no credit cards. None of his friends and acquaintances have heard from him.

“His wife and son live in Nacogdoches. His son is four months old, and Cole has never seen him,” his mother said. “We have a private investigator on the case now, but so far he hasn’t discovered anything new either. We just want to keep letting people know, to keep looking for him, see his picture, keep praying. We just don’t know what else to do but keep trying anything we can think of that might possibly help findy him.”

She said that they have added his name to the Texas Equine Search, My Space and Scared Monkeys web sites.

“We have had quite a bit of media coverage in the Nacogdoches area, but so far no one has come forward with any information about his whereabouts.”

She said there is a rumor that Cole is in the Wichita Falls area.

Those with information may contact the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office at 936-598-5601.

She thanked friends and family for their prayers. She also asked that there be no phone calls to her, but those who wish to may contact her by e-mail at sjackson@etex.net.
